Access to High Quality Schools in Miami’s Urban Core Takes Center Stage

BHA thanks everyone who attended the 2nd Annual Urban Core Education Forum. We could not have accomplished nor had the success we did without your participation.

Community events like the 2nd Annual Urban Core Education Forum are only possible through the generous support of many stakeholders. BHA would like to extend its gratitude to our friends at the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) and all the other Urban Core stakeholders who helped make this year’s Education Forum a reality.

BHA extends a special thanks to our sponsors: Mater Academy, KW Property Management and The Gordon School for their generosity in support of our children’s education. We thank our Education Forum partners/hosts, Miami Dade College and the Miami Downtown Development Authority, and all the speakers and presenters for their efforts to ensure an engaging and informative experience was had by all.

Although the Forum did not produce immediate solutions to the issue we face currently, we believe it was successful in sending the message that there is an urgent need for families living in Miami’s Urban Core to have access to high-quality public schools in their neighborhoods, which will require creative ideas and approaches to the issues our area is facing now and in the future. BHA continues to devote its resources and advocacy efforts to helping resolve this important community issue.

Below you will find links to a couple of documents which will provide you a debriefing of the Education Forum event. Please take a few minutes at your convenience to review the documents. We also encourage you to download and share this information with your friends, family, neighbors, constituents…your “circles of influence…and any others who might be interested in this issue. We will continue to publish more information about the happenings and results of the 2nd Annual Urban Core Education Forum online and in BHA News. Please stay abreast at www.brickellhomeowners.com.

Perhaps the lasting lesson from the Education Forum is the need for Miami’s Urban Core stakeholders to organize our education advocacy efforts to ensure our area’s issues are heard and addressed appropriately. Below you will find a document which details how you can support our education advocacy efforts today. Please take a few minutes to review this “Call to Action” and share it with others who might be interested.

Working together, we will ensure all families living in Miami’s Urban Core
have access to high-quality public schools in their neighborhoods.

BHA thanks Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) and the office of School Board member Mari Teri Rojas for their support of 2nd Annual Urban Core Education Forum. The participation of the South Miami Senior High School Color Guard and performer were very well received. We also appreciated Superintendent Alberto Carvalho’s video message. We look forward to working with our partners at MDCPS over the next year to address the issues, concerns, and solutions addressed at the 2nd Annual Urban Core Education Forum.
