2012: First Presbyterian Church welcomes new pastor

The First Presbyterian Church of Miami is proud to introduce its new pastor, the Reverend Christopher Atwood. Pastor Atwood, a Seattle native, attended Princeton Theological Seminary and most recently left Wheaton College near Chicago where he is finishing a Ph.D. in theology.

FirstPresby2003When asked why he felt called to serve the church located at 609 Brickell Ave., he responded, “I could not find another church with more potential anywhere in the country. As waves of growth pour over Brickell, we as a church want to be strategically positioned to make a difference for God’s kingdom. I’m confident, with God’s help, we can continue to be a place where the community can come together and find ways to share God’s love with the world.”

Pastor Atwood, along with his wife Jenn, is excited to renew and extend the church’s historic 116 year-old mission in Miami. Through the arts, worship, youth activities, and community services, the Church hopes to carry on the traditions of former famous members like Henry Flagler and former Democratic presidential nominee William Jennings Bryan.
