Meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m.

A motion to waive the reading of the May minutes and accept them as published was made and seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

President's Report
Bus Benches and Advertising: Reviewing with the City of Miami why residential Brickell Avenue was excluded from the January 10, 2002 official Resolution language passed by Commissioners that excluded residential areas from getting the advertising panels along with the bus benches. Coconut Grove, Upper East Side and Brickell Avenue from 15th to 25th Roads were discussed at that meeting to be three areas that are to get new benches but not with advertising.

Brickell Avenue Medians. The schedule calls for the medians to be cut and cleaned twice a month; in June it's to be done 6/14 and 6/24.

Fall Elections. BHA Commissioners (County and City) not up for reelection this fall, however, other ballot items are of interest to residents that will be voted on in September and November. More information to come, along with a date for the Candidates Forum to be held collaboratively with the Miami Roads Neighborhood Civic Association, South Miami Avenue Homeowners Association and Brickell Area Association.

Brickell Bay Village Project

  • Currently working on infrastructure.
  • Power poles and piping completed
  • A major concrete pour is coming up that will block one lane of traffic on Brickell Avenue in both directions for about 15 hours.

Lee Tomback from Florida East Coast Realty Company/Brickell Bay Plaza Site
Located at the Brickell Avenue and Coral Way intersection between Brickell Avenue and Brickell Bay Drive and 12th Street and 12th Terrace, this 42-story, mixed-use luxury apartment building will be interconnected with the former Mutual of Omaha Building which has been renamed Colonnade Plaza. The new structure will have its lobby and 8,000 feet of retail on the first level; parking on levels 2 through 11; a recreation deck on the 12th floor with fitness center, business center, retail and restaurant services; and apartments on floors 12 through 42.

  • There was a robbery at 1440 Brickell Bay Drive
  • Security Guards should call 911 immediately when problems arise; if no response, then call Jeff at (305) 483-8873 (pager) or (305) 542-3632 (cell).

Tony Wagner, City of Miami Coral Way NET
Tony provided a written report including notices about a Coral Way Public Design Workshop on June 22 and Governor Jeb Bush's visit on June 25.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
