April 2009: Advanced Warning System for the Brickell Avenue Bridge Underway

Construction has begun for this project designed to provide motorists with advanced notification when the Brickell Avenue Bridge is in the up or "open" position. Drivers can then seek an alternative route via one block west on South Miami Avenue with its higher bridge over the Miami River, thus, avoiding the lengthy traffic tie-ups so often associated with the Brickell Bridge's openings.
